"HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method is a tried and proven method that guides and prepares a woman in giving birth in a peaceful and extraordinarily beautiful manner. Through a very simple program of self-hypnosis and education, healthy, low-risk women, as well as women who need medical assistance because of special circumstances, learn to dismiss fear-based stories, misinformation, and birthing myths; and they are helped to see birth as normal. They learn to trust that their bodies know how to bring their babies into the world in the calm and gentle way that Nature intended.
The HypnoBirthing® program is built around an educational process that includes special breathing, relaxation, visualization, meditative practice, attention to nutrition and positive body toning. Most importantly it fosters an air of mutual respect for the birthing family, as well as the health-care provider in a traditional health-care system or an alternative setting"
You will gain an understanding of how the birthing muscles work in perfect harmony–as they were designed to–when your body is sufficiently relaxed and you trust birth. You will learn how to achieve this kind of relaxation, free of the resistance that fear creates, and you will learn to use your natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and comfortable birth. When you have your baby with HypnoBirthing®, you will not be in a trance or a sleep. What you will experience is similar to the daydreaming, or focusing, that occurs when you are engrossed in a book or a movie or staring into a fire.
You will be conversant and in good spirits–totally relaxed, but fully in control. Awake throughout, you will be aware of your body’s surges and your baby’s progress; but because you will have trained yourself to reach complete relaxation, you will be able to determine the degree and the manner in which you will feel the surges. You will experience birthing in an atmosphere of calm relaxation, free of the fear that prevents the muscles of your body from functioning as Nature intended them to.

My first birth ended in an excruciating unmedicated episiotomy and forceps delivery. I was traumatized. Once my son was in my arms all I could think was, “and I wanted to do this again?!” I had many sleepless nights reliving that trauma and often angrily wondered if those interventions were necessary. I felt like a failure.
Four months postpartum, I was pregnant again and regularly worried about my next delivery. I started reading a hypnobirthing book and everything in the book made so much sense to me I decided to look into taking the course. At first my partner and I didn’t want to spend the time and money on a course that would only be of use realistically for one day of labour and delivery, but I convinced us both into believing it would be worth it if it would help us avoid trauma like my first birth. It turned out that course was the best money and time I’ve ever spent!
My partner was so well prepared with all the information of what to do before, during and after every stage of my labour, it was an amazing difference from our first baby’s birth. My second birth I was able to remain relaxed for the majority of my labour and my baby was born without any complications. Even though I mentioned in my birth plan, “no coached pushing,” when my doctor felt my baby’s head “right there” the doctor instructed me to push. My partner learned from the hypnobirthing course to speak for me so he immediately told her I wouldn’t be pushing and I was going to let my body do the work, the doctor disagreed and said it was time to push. I ignored that advice, continued to breathe and my baby was born in less than 3 minutes. The doctor was shocked and so impressed with how smooth it went she said I should be a surrogate and she would need to “look into this hypnobirthing stuff.” All the nurses were amazed, telling me I had “such a beautiful birth.”
I still feel sad when I think about my first delivery, but my second delivery overshadows it. My second delivery makes me feel like Wonder Woman and like I could do it 100 times again all thanks to the hypnobirthing course! I highly recommend it to anyone I know who is pregnant.

"My wife and I met Dawn through her prenatal yoga session, which also comes highly recommended! A little background on us as an expecting couple: I was a traditional surrogate for our dear friends and now two fathers to the beautiful Charlotte, born in May. Dawn not only welcomed me into the class with open arms but made the not so conventional method of surrogacy seem like an everyday occurrence, in the best of ways. Prenatal yoga with Dawn was meaningful, and largely based on connection to ourselves and our motherhood community. I can honestly say that the weekly connection with the yoga mamas of Campbell River made the bumps of surrogacy a little less rough while surrounded by the warmest of supports. My wife and I, along with Charlotte's fathers, also took HypnoBirthing with Dawn. I have nothing but profound gratefulness for Dawn and the positivity she brought to our birth. The HypnoBirthing course is a couple's way to finding gentle, peaceful and loving birth. With Dawn's help and positive encouragement, I was able to birth Charlotte to her fathers in the most loving, calm and peaceful manner. I cannot put emphasis enough on how wonderfully talented Dawn is with both HypnoBirthing and prenatal yoga. Dawn, thank you for your empowering and all-encompassing love that you helped create among Chris, Jason, Charlotte, Julie, Kiptyn and I."

“I truly believe that the skills I learned throughout the HypnoBirthing class with Dawn helped me to achieve the birth I always envisioned. I felt prepared, empowered, and confident that I could give birth without fear, and the techniques I learned in the class allowed me to do just that. Practicing those techniques also helped me connect with my baby and my partner in the weeks leading up to my son’s birth. I would recommend this class to any pregnant person who is looking to learn more about harnessing their ability to birth instinctively and free from fear and self-doubt.”

"When I became pregnant, a natural meditative approach to birth was important to me. I was not fully aware of what HypnoBirthing encompassed but having had a relationship with Dawn previously through yoga I trusted her fully and was excited to learn more and work with her and my hubby through this.
I loved the whole experience, but some some key parts stand out to me:
It is apparent Dawn is very passionate about birth, motherhood, and empowering parents throughout this transformational journey. She has an incredible way of meeting you where you are at and making you feel very comfortable and empowered in this special yet vulnerable time. Even the most skeptical husbands and partners will be transformed after HypnoBirthing with Dawn.
Thank you Dawn for all of the care and time you put into this offering. In my humble opinion this lays an incredible foundation for an empowering birth experience and beyond."

After a relatively traumatic birth experience with my first child I was looking for methods/supports to attempt a VBAC. My husband and I signed up for private hypnobirthing classes with Dawn that were done in the comfort of our own home spread out over several sessions. I feel like the hypnobirthing program really set me up to take control of my birthing experience. Dawn helped me obtain the tools I needed to calmly accept whatever turn my birthing took. I was able to relax into my contractions and breathe my beautiful baby into the world.. I would highly recommend hypnobirthing classes with Dawn to anybody!
